Bachelorette Pad!
This client is a single, young professional who recently purchased her first home in a two-bedroom, high-rise apartment that needed to be updated to be more comfortable and functional. The first priorities were the kitchen and master bathroom, along with enlarging the family space. With concrete ceilings limiting lighting options, the designer created beams in order to conceal wiring in the master bedroom and living room. The common wall dividing the kitchen and living area was enlarged significantly and created a spacious bar for four. The ceiling is concrete (like many condos in a high-rise) so we designed beams in the master bedroom in order to add a fan, and concealed the wiring. In the furr down (structural) that divided the living room space, we concealed the wiring for the track lighting in the crown detail. This 2018 ASID Ruby Awards, WINNER for Residential Large firm (under 3,500 sq. ft.), is now updated and enjoyed!
We asked this young professional about working with Jane Page Design Group
What was your main concern about hiring a designer?
One of my biggest concerns about hiring a designer was that my own style was completely unknown to me – I didn’t really have a great idea or vision about what I wanted my house to look like when I purchased it, and while a designer was definitely needed to help pull everything together, I was nervous about the end result not being reflective of my personality / emerging style.
What was your favorite part of working with a designer?
As I mentioned above, one of the biggest unknowns going into this project was my own style. JPDG made everything easy – for example, I would be given multiple samples of different paints, flooring, or fabric to select, and no matter what I chose, each option would match with the others. It was the stress-free method I needed to figure out what I liked!
Additionally, JPDG coordinated with the contractor (Cameron Builders 281-413-5064) working on my remodel, which was really helpful to me as someone who did not have experience with this type of project.
What is your advice to someone who is looking for a designer?
I chose JPDG primarily because of their long track record and the quality of their work. I’ve seen multiple examples of JPDG’s expertise at several houses in my family – my grandparents, aunts and uncles, and my parents have all utilized this firm for their homes. I would recommend that anyone looking for a designer do the same as you will be collaborating very closely with one another throughout the length of your project. You want to hire a designer that you can trust to make your dream home into a reality.
Is there any additional comments you would like to add?
When I first bought my home, I thought that I was much too indecisive about my style preferences for a designer to be helpful to me, as this is the first home that I’ve ever purchased. JPDG proved me wrong! They knew just how to guide the creative process in order to make my ideal home come to life. I would recommend their firm to anybody!
