#textiletuesday Vs. Q&A with a Client Part II

Powerhouse Collaboration

Jane Page Design Group specializes in new construction & values their relationships with the builders & architects they have the privilege to work with! This project was no exception. This powerhouse collaboration between Jane Page Design Group, 2Scale Architects & Southland Homes of Texas resulted in a first-place winner in the 2018 ASID Awards for residential large firm, whole house under 3500 square feet.

In this ranch style plan, the kitchen is the heart of the home for these empty-nesters planning a move to Garden Oaks. The team was challenged to strike a balance between the client’s eclectic taste & desire for a more contemporary look. The light fixtures & unexpected paint colors – pale green on kitchen cabinets, purple on utility room cabinets & light blue on master bathroom cabinets – are a nod to their eclectic taste. If you are considering building a home, our sit-down interview with this client may answer some of your questions. See photos and questions below.

What was your main concern about hiring a designer?

My main concern about hiring a designer was that they would be resistant to assisting me in incorporating some of my existing furnishings and recommend building selections that were a fad and while beautiful, it would not be as enduring as I would like. Jane Page Design Group was wonderful to work with and was not only award winning in its design as is well documented by their many awards but also is very attuned to the need for timeless and practical materials and design that is very fresh and beautiful.

What was your favorite part of working with a designer?

My favorite part of using a designer was that they brought all their expertise and ideas to our project. I am sure without them we would have been tempted to repeat a component we had previously instead of embracing something new that we like even more and that is innovative and fresh.

What is your advice to someone who is looking for a designer?

My advice in looking for a designer is to look at projects they have done, meet them so you feel comfortable with the person and then resist the impulse to drive their experience. Allow the expert to do their job; like with most things in life if you are open to new ideas and are with the right people the outcome will exceed your expectations.

Is there any additional comments you would like to add?

I wish I had another project in the works right now because the design process with Jane Page Design Group was so much fun, I wish I could do it all again.
