What's black & white and small all over?
This elegant and classically designed, petite Master Bath proves that it doesn’t have to be big to be fabulous! By enlarging this space to its fullest potential and embellishing every detail, the appealing design implemented was able to capture the functionality and look the clients desired.
The clients of this 1960s home desired a new Master Bathroom to replace the outdated, non-functional bathroom they once had. The overall bathroom was only 59 square feet for a “Master”. Our objective was to maximize the space, make it functional and create a timeless look.
All existing fixture, cabinetry and materials were removed. All new polished nickel plumbing fixtures were selected.
A new vanity was designed to have more usable storage than the existing.
The existing shower was small and not very functional for the clients. We removed the exiting cabinet by the entry door which gave us the opportunity to enlarge the shower space and give the clients a 3’ shower door.
To make the space feel larger, we designed the showers to have frameless glass. We also designed the vanity wall to be mirrored. We faced the cabinet doors and drawers with a mirror inset. The coordinating new linen cabinet over the toilet was also faced with mirror inset.
A combination of light marble, ceramic and porcelain tiles were used throughout the bathroom. For the bathroom flooring, we used a polished white and black accented marble tile. The surrounding 6” base is a polished black ceramic. The vanity countertop was a polished Carrara. The shower was designed with polished white ceramic tiles on the wall and a matte hexagon porcelain tile on the floor. The white and black accent marble tile was brought back into the shower wall as an inset to tie all the materials together.
