Q&A with Grace.

Q: What do you enjoy most about interior design? A: What I enjoy most about interior design is that there’s always a new challenge. Every project provides an opportunity to not only be creative, but to look at something in a new way. I am constantly learning new things from the challenges I face, which makes every day exciting!

Q: How would you describe your style? A: I love a good combination of traditional style and anything fun! Colorful patterned wallpaper, a piece that really draws your eye or a clever solution get me excited about design.

Q: Which design trends are you most excited about 2018? A: I am most excited about the revival of florals. Livening a traditional floral with bold and bright colors is just so fun and practical!

Q: Where do you go to get new ideas and inspiration? A: As Houstonians, we take for granted the amazing food scene. Trying new, trending restaurants is such a fun way to hang out with friends while seeing what’s new. One of my favorite things is to soak in the new atmospheres, noticing the materials and colors that help create the environment.

Q: What or who inspires you right now? A: Moving back to Houston has really opened my eyes to things that I took for granted growing up in the city. The lush green of all the foliage along the bayous, the way that the old and new architecture are so cohesive in creating the character of Houston. The opportunity to soak in city life are so inspiring to me right now.

Q: What’s trending in Houston? A: In moving back I’ve noticed a huge trend in historic reuse. Houstonians have an appreciation for the history of Houston, thus I’ve noticed less buildings are being torn down, while more buildings are being transformed to meet the needs of the modern user. I have a special place in my heart for historic design, so I am all on board this trend!

Q: What is your favorite room in the house? A: My favorite room in the house is the one with the most windows! I love the refreshing atmosphere that natural light creates. I tend to spend my time in the rooms with the comfiest chair with natural light streaming through the windows.
