Back to School

The end of August is quickly approaching us and in Houston, Texas – as well as any other city with a bipolar ecosystem or an education system – this transition into September marks some pivotal milestones in the year.

  • It’s still hot outside – this will continue throughout September and well into November with the occasional “cold” front hitting our beloved city sporadically in December. (fingers crossed!)

  • An increase in traffic – which has undoubtedly added time to your morning and evening commute.

This brings us to our last milestone, the culprit behind your traffic jams and the topic of our blog today..

  • School is back in session! – some parents might mourn the carefree days of summer but relish getting time back for other important tasks while the kids are at school.

However, all jokes aside, an education is one of greatest gifts a child can receive – it’s the gift that keeps on giving throughout their entire life.

So what does this have to do with Interior Design? Dedicating a space in your home to school work, studying and other fun crafts is a great way to get children engaged and excited about learning. We take pride in designing rooms that help to further cultivate young, growing minds. Just like adults, having a space created just for you is inspiring and stimulates the mind.

Here is a room designed for a brother and sister team. They had been collecting Disney figurines since they were too young to remember and wanted the collection to be the focal point of the room. This space also showcases a collection of books, videos and other precious memories. There is a place for homework, reading and relaxing with furniture scaled to fit the end users. We were able to successfully check off each item on this dynamic duos list to ensure a successful school year!

From Snow White to Little Mermaid, this children’s study was designed for lounging, studying & to house the large collection of limited addition Disney figurines the client had collected over the years. The original play room was transformed into a sophisticated children’s study with crisp paint colors, contrasting the soft blue/green of the walls and ceiling with the white trim and by crowning each bookcase with a lit display area for the collection.
